Why Our Lunch Program Matters

Fighting Hunger, One Meal at a Time

Hunger doesn’t take a break, and neither do we. In Berks County, numerous individuals and families face food insecurity, often unsure where their next meal will come from. The New Journey Community Outreach Lunch Program addresses this pressing need by serving hundreds of meals each week to those who need them most.

  • Accessible to all – No ID, proof of income, or registration required.
  • Nutritious and filling – Meals are balanced and designed for nourishment.
  • Consistent support – Lunch is available Monday through Friday, all year long.

This program is about so much more than food—it’s about developing a safe, friendly environment where people can connect, feel valued, and leave knowing someone cares.

Feeding the Community

Nutritious & Made with Care

We know that food should be both nourishing and enjoyable. That’s why our volunteer chefs prepare meals with fresh, wholesome ingredients whenever possible. Our menus change regularly to include a variety of options, such as:

  • Hearty soups and stews
  • Fresh salads and veggies
  • Lean proteins like chicken, turkey, and beans
  • Whole grains like rice or pasta
  • Fresh fruit and healthy desserts

We take special dietary needs into account and aim to provide options for guests with allergies or dietary restrictions.
